Intel Macs released next January?

Apple iBookThink Secret has a story about Apple releasing their first iBooks running with an Intel chip as early as next January.

It is not known exactly what processors or price points the new models will debut at, but it is thought Apple will expand the iBook line with one additional model and will lower prices—in some cases possibly $200 or more—to entice current Windows users and prove to the market it will be more competitive with the likes of Dell, Gateway, HP and Sony.

It’s very good news for windows users looking for a change, but not-so-good news for linux promoters wishing to get more exposure. With a relatively cheap Mac laptop able to run x86 applications, the pull could be even strongers for many users to make the switch. Personally, if I were to buy a laptop, it would be one like this…
